The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) urges the community to put safety first during New Year’s celebrations. Patrol officers and the D.U.I. Task Force will have an increased presence throughout the holiday weekend, on the lookout for impaired drivers, speeders and those not wearing a seat belt. A planned expansion by one of Huntsville’s largest industries will bring about infrastructure improvements for North Huntsville and generate revenue for Huntsville City Schools. A recently approved project agreement will allow Facebook, now known as Meta, to expand its campus in the North Huntsville Industrial Park. The City of Huntsville’s municipal offices will close Friday, Dec. 31, for the New Year’s holiday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3. Residential sanitation service will not be impacted because there is no garbage collection on Fridays. The City of Huntsville approved a $27.7 million dollar contract with Lee Builders to renovate Joe Davis Stadium.
