Enhancing pedestrian safety: Huntsville approves contract for new sidewalks
March 23, 2023The City of Huntsville underscored its commitment to pedestrian safety by committing to install about 3 miles of new sidewalks at various locations. City Council on Thursday authorized Mayor Tommy Battle to enter into an agreement with low-bidder SJ&L General Contractor LLC to perform the work. The contract agreement is $1.3 million. March 23, 2023Plans for a new 9-acre urban park in South Huntsville are on track after the City’s approval of an architectural contract Tuesday, March 23. Hays Farm Central Park will be in the Hays Farm development off South Memorial Parkway. The mixed-use project will contain single-and-multifamily housing units as well as commercial development and office space. March 23, 2023Funding to begin Phase 2 of Huntsville’s residential street repaving plan for this fiscal year has been approved by City Council. Wiregrass Construction Company won the $5.1 million contract to improve 51 neighborhood streets within the next 10 months. Mayor Tommy Battle’s 2022-2023 budget includes about $19.5 million for street improvements – the most money ever allocated for residential resurfacing.
