Traffic Alert: High school graduation road closures
May 12, 2023The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) anticipates heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic near the Von Braun Center on the afternoon and evening of Monday, May 15, due to graduation ceremonies. Monroe Street between Clinton Avenue and the intersection of Monroe and Williams Avenue will be closed in both directions. Officers from HPD Traffic Services Unit will assist with traffic control. May 8, 2023The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Devone Edward Modacure, 48, with murder following a shooting incident on Sunday, May 7. HPD officers responded to the 4100 block of Knight Road around 4:40 p.m. and found Harrison Sonny Hayes, 57, with gunshot wounds. Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene.
