Skatepark coming to John Hunt Park’s growing number of sports offerings

Another new cutting-edge sports complex is heading to John Hunt Park, this time in the form of an innovative skatepark that will challenge skaters, from professional to novice. Industrial projects in Greenbrier, Jetplex and Northwest Huntsville topped the list of non-residential permits issued in December. Both permits and CO’s increased year-over-year. Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits: In December, 253 housing units were permitted, 144 single- and 109 multi-family. Huntsville healthcare leaders say they’re making progress in aggressively vaccinating frontline personnel, categorized as phase 1a by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH). “We’ve given out 74% of 6,800 Pfizer vaccines we received in two weeks,” said David Spillers, CEO of Huntsville Hospital. “That’s pretty robust.” Crestwood Medical Center has also administered about 900 of the Moderna vaccines. Agents with the North Alabama HIDTA Drug Task Force recently conducted an investigation which resulted in a large seizure of illicit narcotics. Agents were able to recover over 2.7 pounds of cocaine, 283 grams of methamphetamine (ice), over $23,000 in currency, and one handgun. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $150,000. The Huntsville Police Anti – Crime Team along with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested 23yr old D’Marcus Derwell Bibbs for an outstanding murder warrant. The arrest occurred yesterday in the area of 3100 block Greenhill Drive. When Bibbs was arrested he was also charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon Without a Permit, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree. Ro’daryus is being charged with 10 counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering (B&Es) to a vehicle and Jae’ Vontea is being charged with 5 counts of Unlawful B&Es to a vehicle.
