Major Crimes Unit arrest

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Deiondre Gilmore, 25, with capital murder following a drug-related robbery that happened on Sunday, March 12.

HPD officers responded to a shooting into a vehicle call around 9 p.m. Sunday near Wharton Road and Kenwood Drive. During the investigation, Major Crimes Unit Investigators learned the shooting occurred in the area of Colfax and Deerfield Roads when Gilmore shot into a vehicle during a robbery. A 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

Gilmore is currently being booked in the Madison County Jail on the capital murder charge and will be held without bond.

The case remains under investigation, and no further information is available.
