HPD makes arrest in connection to deadly shooting

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) arrested and charged a suspect with reckless murder in connection to a deadly  shooting  that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Jordan Latrell Smith, 21, of Huntsville was booked into the Madison County Jail on Wednesday, Oct. 16 around 2:00 p.m.

The shooting occurred at a gas station at 3310 Meridian St. at about 9:50 p.m. Damien Obrien Manning, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating this incident and more arrests are expected.
