Foster a turkey taster from Huntsville Animal Services this Thanksgiving
Published on November 21, 2024
The turkey often takes center stage in Thanksgiving celebrations, but for many cooks, there’s the constant worry of whether it’s overcooked or undercooked. Luckily, Huntsville Animal Services has dozens of certified turkey tasters eager to spend the long holiday weekend with you and weigh in on the quality of your feast.
While adoption is always an option, fostering helps reduce the stress dogs experience in the shelter and allows them to relax in a comfortable setting. It also provides an ideal opportunity for families to connect with a new four-legged friend.
“Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, and what better way to show it than by opening your home to a dog in need?” asked Animal Services Director John Fischer. “For our dogs, even a few days in a home can make a huge difference by decreasing their anxiety, ultimately increasing their adoptability.”
Whether snuggling on the couch during a football game or sharing a Thanksgiving walk, fostering gives dogs a taste of what it’s like to be part of a family. And who knows? You may decide your turkey taster should become your newest permanent family member.
To become a foster parent, you must first complete an application. Fostering parties must be 21 years of age or older and provide proof of identification. If you lease/rent, landlord approval is required prior to fostering a pet.
