The City of Huntsville offers a comprehensive youth athletic program for children in the 5-18 age range.

PROGRAMS

The City of Huntsville offers most major sports, which are administered locally through volunteer based leagues. Safety is our number one priority, so all potential coaches are required to pass a background check administered by the Huntsville Police Department . Once a potential coach has passed the background check, they will be provided the opportunity to participate in a pre-season coach’s clinic.

Each of our sports has mandatory play rules to ensure each participant has adequate playing time during games. Please note that the registration fee is set by the individual league and may vary from park to park.

Registration at the local parks is held on the last two Saturdays in February and the first Saturday in March. The regular season begins in late April and runs approximately eight weeks. The recreation baseball program is for children ages 5-12 years old.

For older youth, the City chooses to run programs in conjunction with Babe Ruth Baseball Incorporated. The Huntsville Babe Ruth League plays at Optimist Park and Sandhurst Park.

If you or a member of your family is interested in being a part of the City’s youth baseball program, contact your Zone Coordinator for general information or your League Director for specific league information.
