Goldsmith-Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary
Located along the Flint River in southeast Huntsville, Alabama, the newly established Goldsmith-Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a variety of habitats and abundance of bird species. This natural area is an important part of the North Alabama Birding Trail. No pets are allowed except for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) service animals, including leashed dogs. TRAIL MAPS
The sanctuary spans more than 375 acres of bottomland hardwood habitat interspersed with open fields and farmland. Over three miles of trail wind through bottomlands, swamps, and sloughs, suitable for hiking or mountain biking. (Note: Bikes are only allowed on the greenway.)
REPORTING SICK OR INJURED WILDLIFE
Sick or injured wildlife should be reported to Animal Services dispatch at 256.883.3788. Animal Services is passionate about helping urban wildlife if and when they need assistance. Certain species such as eagles are often placed with certified wildlife rehabilitation professionals based on State of Alabama and Federal guidelines.
