ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

Classroom Activities

Throughout the year, Green Team (wi th the help of its mascot) conducts educational lectures at city schools with lessons centering on various waste handling and reduction concepts. The Keep America Beautiful, Inc. organization provides us with excellent curricula entitled “Waste in Place,”which teaches an integrated approach to the management of municipal waste.  With its secondary component, “Waste:  A Hidden Resource,”students are taught the sources of municipal waste, characteristics, and the various options for handling it.

Earth Day, Clean-up Activities, Lectures

In addition to the formal curricula, Green Team works regularly with ecology clubs in th e school system to organize contests, cleanups, and other special events in conjunction with Earth Day.  With the curricula developed by Keep America Beautiful, Inc. and these hands-on activities, students are instilled with a sense of civic pride as they realize that they can play an active role in keeping their community clean and beautiful.

Remember that educational programs are not restricted to schools. Green Team will be glad to schedule an appearance or lecture with any church, civic, corporate, or other youth group.
