Contractor Rogers Group started work in 2023. The contractor shifted all traffic to the substantially-completed service roads in late 2024 and began construction of the new mainline and overpass at Mastin Lake Road.
The project is anticipated to take more than three years to complete. Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution in the 2-mile work zone.

The City and ALDOT are working to secure additional funding as the design proceeds. The project will be constructed in phases, with the first phased being near Providence Main. Right of way acquisition is expected to begin in 2025 with construction anticipated in phases from 2026-2029.Updated Feb. 21, 2025
Preliminary engineering and design are 75% complete. A public involvement meeting was held in January 2022. ALDOT is completing design. ROW is anticipated to begin in 2025 with construction scheduled for 2026.Updated Feb. 21, 2025
Plans are complete, and the City is currently working on right-of-way acquisition for the remainder of properties needed.Updated Feb. 4, 2025
Construction contract was awarded to Grayson Carter and Son Contracting in January 2024, and construction began in April 2024. Drainage installation is complete, and grading and concrete work are approximately 90% complete. Paving and median island construction will begin after the grading is complete. Single lane closures are being utilized during off peak hours while contractors are working. Project is anticipated to be complete by the Spring of 2025 depending upon weather and utility conflicts.Updated Feb. 5, 2025
