He was first African American elected to the Alabama House of Representatives from Huntsville, Alabama, District 19, and was further distinguished by becoming the first Freshman Legislator to be appointed Chairman of the powerful Education Committee.(Culver)
c. Resolution honoring the Ms. Cynthia McCollum, in recognition of Black History Month, February 2013.Ms. McCollum was the first African American City Council Member/President Madison City Council.(Culver)
