City Celebrates Opening of Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center and North Huntsville Library

The City of Huntsville debuted its latest public amenity on Sparkman Drive to benefit residents living in North Huntsville. Mayor Tommy Battle and District 1 Council Member Devyn Keith hosted a ribbon-cutting on April 7 to open the Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center, an eleven-acre campus featuring the new North Huntsville Library and recreation facilities. The City of Huntsville’s municipal offices and Municipal Court will be closed Friday, April 2, in observance of Good Friday. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, April 5. Huntsville Transit will operate a normal schedule for both Orbit fixed-route buses and Access paratransit services. Flooding issues have closed several areas within the Parks and Recreation Department. Access to a majority of the Hays Nature Preserve has been closed today (Thursday, March 18) due to flooding issues. The only areas accessible at this time are the Main Entrance on U.S. Highway 431 and the Natural Playground and Bar Lake areas.
