Arrest Made in Overnight Shooting
July 10, 2017
Huntsville Police have charged Thomas Couch, 32 of Huntsville, following an overnight shooting. Officers responded to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Fairbanks Street around 11:45 last night. One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the arm. His injuries were not life-threatening. Couch was in a neighboring apartment and refused to surrender to officers. Brian Simpson, 38 of Huntsville, was arrested in Conyers, Georgia and is currently awaiting extradition back to Huntsville. He faces charges of Murder, Attempted Murder, and Assault 1st degree. The charges stem from a triple shooting at a home in the 3000 block of Brook Manor Avenue on May 31. Investigators charged Curtis Smith, 36 of Huntsville, and Emily Maroney, 19 of Huntsville, with Robbery 1st degree. The robbery investigations continue and could result in additional charges or arrests.
