Huntsville Police are accepting applications for the 8th Citizen’s Academy today, March 1st, through March 31st. The projected start date of the Academy is April 10th, 2018. The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 9-week program offered each spring and fall giving our community members first-hand information on the role of police officers in the Huntsville Police Department. Huntsville Police have made an arrest regarding the bank robbery at the Woodforest National Bank at 6140 University Drive. Keon Ladell Reed, 38 yrs old, was arrested for Robbery 1st early yesterday evening. Huntsville Police have made two arrests regarding the investigation on Boxwood Cir. on February 14th. Michael Christian Stoltzfus, 30yrs old and James Michael Romans, 24yrs old, were arrested and charged with murder. Officers received a call about a possible victim in an apartment at the Boxwood Cir. location. Officers investigated and discovered a deceased male inside the vacant apartment. The Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force initiated an investigation that yielded two arrests on Friday Feb 2nd. The two offenders are Bertario Navarrette Santana, 33, of Norcross GA and Jose Eduardo Jimenez-Sanchez, 27, of Yucaipa California. After a month-long investigation, agents with the Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) identified the two Hispanic males from the Madison-Morgan County area believed to be trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine “Ice.” [ more ]

On January 24, 2018 at about 2am HPD received a call of a shooting at 3015 Tucker Drive. Officers began a death investigation after finding the victim, Dimitrick Mims Jr., with a gunshot wound. On January 21st Officers responded to an unattended death call on Ford Place. Upon arrival officers discovered the victim, identified as 83 yr old Betty Scale. She was known to have a son live with her, 57 yr old Donald Marlon Mann. Investigators sought and quickly located Mr. Mann at another location. On January 15th Officers responded to a shooting call on Marina Woods Dr. The juvenile victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and subsequently passed away on January 17th. A juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder on January 15th. Today that juvenile was charged with Murder. This is all the information we can release at this time, the investigation is on-going.
