HPD Prescription Drug Drop Box –First Quarter 2019 Results

Huntsville Police is in its fourth year of maintaining a drug depository at the Public Safety Complex at 815 Wheeler Ave for unwanted and unused drugs. This first quarter of 2019, the drug take back bin has taken in 554 lbs of unused drugs. This is the largest amount recorded in one quarter since the program started. Huntsville Police is in its fourth year of maintaining a drug depository in the Public Safety Complex at 815 Wheeler Ave for unwanted and unused drugs. It has taken in approximately 3,500 lbs of prescription drugs since it was installed in 2016 (360 lbs for this past reporting quarter in 2018). City Hall and municipal offices will be closed, Tuesday, January 29, due to the winter weather and hazardous road conditions. This includes Public Transit, Handi-Ride, Municipal Court, and all municipal services and facilities. Garbage collection will experience delays for the remainder of the week. Residents should place their trash cans curbside on their regularly scheduled day and leave them there until crews can pick them up.
