July 30, 2021
The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Devontae Sherrod Moore, 27, with murder following a shooting incident on Monday, July 12. Officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the 100 block of Indiana Street and discovered Kentonio Perkins, 22, deceased. HPD Major Crimes Unit Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation. Moore is currently being booked into the Madison County Jail with a $75,000 bond. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) arrested Korte Pierre Watkins, 29, around 8:45 a.m. Thursday morning, July 22, at a home on Thorntons Way Circle. Watkins surrendered to officers outside the home without incident. Watkins was wanted by Decatur Police for seven felony charges for rape, sodomy, electronic solicitation, traveling to meet a child for a sex act and three counts of obscene matter contact. The Huntsville Police Department has charged both Joseph Stack, 44, and Quartney Smith, 36, with abuse of a corpse following the discovery of Laekyn Steelman’s body on Thursday, June 24.
