Road Closures

The Huntsville Police Department is assisting with traffic control and road closures for the Mardi Gras Parade starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. The parade will be held in downtown Huntsville and starts and ends across from the former Lumberyard on Cleveland Ave. Road closures will begin at 2 p.m. and last for the duration of the parade. Due to the threat of severe weather, City of Huntsville offices will close at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 16. Huntsville Municipal Court will also suspend night court and driving school. The court will send out rescheduling information to anyone affected by today’s closure. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged 22-year-old Cameron David Robinson, one juvenile female and three juvenile males with murder following a burglary incident on August, 22, 2022. HPD officers responded to the 4500 block of Judith Lane in August and found three individuals involved in the burglary suffering from gunshot wounds. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged London Kortezz Phillips Goodwin, 25, with murder following a shooting incident on Sunday, Feb. 12. HPD officers responded to the 5000 block of Galaxy Way and found Richard McQuarley, 28, with life-threatening injuries. Quarley died at the hospital from his injuries. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) responded to a domestic violence call in the 2100 block of Chadburn Drive shortly after midnight on Saturday, Feb. 4. While officers were attempting to make contact with an armed individual involved, the individual was shot and killed. No officers were injured during the incident. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Omondo Jermaine Varner Jr., 25, with murder following a shooting incident that happened just after midnight on Saturday, Jan. 28. The North Alabama Drug Task Force (NADTF) has charged Justin Omari Mitchell, 25, with drug trafficking, drug sale near a school and possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds following an incident at 1001 Haysland Road on Tuesday, Jan. 10. NADTF agents learned Mitchell was selling fentanyl-pressed pills while working in a contract security role at an after-school sporting event.
