Running 4 Heroes to honor fallen HPD Officer

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) will lead Zechariah Cartledge, Running 4 Heroes founder, on his 1-mile run through downtown Huntsville on Saturday, April 22 at 10 a.m. Cartledge travels across the country raising awareness for those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has arrested a Huntsville man after a lengthy child pornography investigation. In December 2022, Special Victims Unit Investigators served a search warrant on a residence on Saint Charles Road Southeast. Stuart Edwin Smith, 65, is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography. On Tuesday, April 11, Smith was taken into custody in Birmingham by the US Marshals. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Jason Everett Moore, 47, with murder following a shooting on Tuesday, April 11. HPD officers responded to a shooting call in the 4800 block of Blue Haven Drive shortly before 4:30 p.m. and located 40-year-old Damian Kenneth Collins Sr. with gunshot wounds. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is mourning the loss of Officer Garrett Crumby, 36, who made the ultimate sacrifice following a shooting Tuesday, March 28. HPD officers responded to a shooting into a vehicle call around 9 p.m. Sunday near Wharton Road and Kenwood Drive.
