City Council reviews Mayor’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2023

Huntsville City Council reviewed Mayor Tommy Battle’s proposed FY 2023 budget during a work session on Sept. 15. The Mayor proposed a balanced budget, which includes $281 million in general fund operations and $104.5 million in capital projects. Public safety, road resurfacing, infrastructure and quality of life improvements remain a priority. An ordinance change approved by City Council will expand the footprint for brewpubs to operate in the Lincoln Mill area. The amendment updates the boundary to allow brewpubs to locate in areas north of downtown bounded by Meridian Street, Oakwood Avenue, Burbank Street, Hurst Avenue, Webster Drive and Abingdon Avenue.
