Arrest Made Following Tuesday Shooting Death

Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Investigators have charged Terrance Rodgers, 18 of Huntsville, with Capital Murder following a shooting in the area of Alice Drive and Mt. Vernon Road.
Officers received a call around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a shooting victim in a car at 3700 Blue Spring Road. When they arrived they found Antonio Melson, 20 of Huntsville, inside a car with a gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Melson was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after officers received a call of a second shooting victim, Terrance Rodgers, at Crestwood Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. After follow-up investigation it was determined that the two men were in a car in the area of Alice Drive and Mt. Vernon Road conducting a drug transaction when an altercation started and Rodgers shot Melson. Rodgers was struck in the hand during the shooting but his injuries were not serious. He has been charged with Capital Murder. The investigation is ongoing and investigators are not releasing any further details at this time.
