Inspiring future leaders via Alabama A&M Graduate Student Council

At a recent City Council meeting, Council President John Meredith recognized the Academy for Science & Foreign Language’s Future City Competition team. These students and teachers spent countless hours working on their project, doing research, writing a 1,500-word essay, learning engineering skills and more. At around 6:20 a.m. on Friday, March 17, the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) responded to a shooting call at a business located at 2990 Mastin Lake Road. HPD Major Crimes Unit Investigators learned Menterra Gurley, 25, attempted to steal a man’s vehicle after he entered the business. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Deiondre Gilmore, 25, with capital murder following a drug-related robbery that happened on Sunday, March 12. HPD officers responded to a shooting into a vehicle call around 9 p.m. Sunday near Wharton Road and Kenwood Drive. During the investigation, Major Crimes Unit Investigators learned the shooting occurred in the area of Colfax and Deerfield Roads when Gilmore shot into a vehicle during a robbery. [ more ]
