Huntsville Animal Services offering adoption special through April 17

Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) is overflowing with dogs of every possible color, size and personality in need of a forever – or even temporary – home. For the next three weeks, through April 17, HAS is offering adoption fees as low as $10. The City of Huntsville’s municipal offices and Municipal Court will be closed Friday, April 2, in observance of Good Friday. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, April 5. Huntsville Transit will operate a normal schedule for both Orbit fixed-route buses and Access paratransit services. If you are stopped at a Traffic Safety Checkpoint be prepared to present your driver license, proof of insurance and vehicle tag registration to the officers. Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle on Thursday announced the appointments of Bernita Reese as director of Huntsville Parks & Recreation and Quisha Riche as director of Parking & Public Transit. Scammers are calling individuals and impersonating government agencies, prize/sweepstakes organizations and vehicle warranty offices. Flooding issues have closed several areas within the Parks and Recreation Department. Access to a majority of the Hays Nature Preserve has been closed today (Thursday, March 18) due to flooding issues. The only areas accessible at this time are the Main Entrance on U.S. Highway 431 and the Natural Playground and Bar Lake areas.
