Arrest Made Following Tuesday Shooting Death

Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Investigators have charged Terrance Rodgers, 18 of Huntsville, with Capital Murder following a shooting in the area of Alice Drive and Mt. Vernon Road. Officers received a call around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a shooting victim in a car at 3700 Blue Spring Road. Two new shopping centers topped the list of non-residential permits issued last month. Residential construction remained roughly the same year-over-year. Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits: In June, 150 housing units were permitted, 110 single- and 40 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 212 (Greenbrier), where 36 units were permitted, all multi-family. Huntsville Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigators have charged Dijuan Roach-Donald, 21 of Huntsville, with a felony count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The accident happened around 4:30 Sunday morning on University Drive in the area of Henderson Drive and involved a pedestrian. The victim is being treated at the hospital and is expected to survive. Roach-Donald turned himself in to police yesterday.

Huntsville Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Investigators have charged Dennis Hammond, 57 of Huntsville, with Murder following a weekend traffic accident on Jordan Lane. The accident claimed the life of Danetria Rice, 29 of Huntsville. Ms. Rice was the passenger in a car traveling north on Jordan Lane near Sportsman Lane around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The US Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with Huntsville Police SWAT Team members arrested Mitchell Williams, Jr., 19 of Selma, at a home in the 4700 block of Broadmeadow Lane. Williams was wanted by authorities in Selma, Alabama for Capital Murder in connection to a drive-by shooting. He was taken into custody without incident and will be extradited back to Selma in the coming days.

Investigators with the Huntsville Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit have charged Deitrich Hall, 35 of Huntsville, with the overnight robbery of the Mapco at 2220 Zierdt Road. Huntsville Police have charged Thomas Couch, 32 of Huntsville, following an overnight shooting. Officers responded to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Fairbanks Street around 11:45 last night. Brian Simpson, 38 of Huntsville, was arrested in Conyers, Georgia and is currently awaiting extradition back to Huntsville. He faces charges of Murder, Attempted Murder, and Assault 1st degree.
